Delegation of scientists from Europe
From 21st till 26th of June, 2014 the international delegation in the field of radiobiology and radiation medicine has worked at the Scientific Research Institute for Radiation Medicine and Ecology. The delegation was represented by the following scientists from Europe:
- Bernd Grosche, Head of the Division «Effects and Risks from Ionizing and Non – Ionizing Radiation» of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, Germany,
- Sarah Baatout, Head of Radiobiology Unit of Ghent University and Namur University, Belgium,
- Tamara Zhunusova, Senior Scientist at Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority, Norway.
The issues of cooperation on the international project «Prospective study of residents near the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site» 2013 – 2015 were discussed. In future, the implementation of the full-scale epidemiological studies of the residents near the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site in the Republic of Kazakhstan is planned.
They also reached an agreement on future joint projects in the field of genetic research and adaptation of the State Scientific Automated Medical Register of the population of Kazakhstan exposed to the effects of radiation as a result of nuclear weapons tests at SNTS existing in the Institute with the European database of scientific platform on research of low doses of radiation on the human body.
