In 2017 the first stage of research works carried out within the framework of the budget program 013

Employees of the Scientific Research Institute for Radiation Medicine and Ecology of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan are carrying out research works performed within the budget program 013 “Applied Research in Healthcare”, in the direction: “Life Science and Health”, “Formation of a preventive environment as the basis of public health”, on the theme: “Development of scientific and methodological bases for minimizing environmental burden, medical provision, social protection and health of the population of ecologically unfavorable territories of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. The term of the program implementation is 2017-2019.

In the current year, the first stage of research works on the assessment of the volume and nature of negative man-made and environmental risk factors of the studied territories is being completed. A retrospective analysis of the radiation situation was carried out, the radiation indices of the modern ecological situation in Ust-Kamenogorsk of the East Kazakhstan region, Akzhar v. of the Maisky district and the town of Aksu in the Pavlodar region were assessed. The content of radioactive elements in environmental objects and human biosubstrates is measured. In order to assess the health status of studied population, study groups were formed, personal dose loads for individuals included in the study and their immediate relatives were copied out and calculated, and the database of the State scientific automated register of the affected population was updated. The applied value of the register makes it possible to form risk groups for the development of specific diseases, monitor the demographic situation, trends in morbidity and mortality in order to determine the main regularities of the development of the situation characterizing the level of public health, to develop a modern therapeutic and prophylactic strategy aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality from radiation-induced diseases.

In 2016, the database of the State scientific automated medical register was integrated into the information platform “MELODI”. "MELODI" - Multidisciplinary low-dose information initiative - consolidation of European initiatives on research and understanding of medical consequences of exposure to low doses of ionizing radiation. Kazakhstan is the first representative of the countries of Central Asia.
